Method

No claim without a source

While building this section we ran a scan on : we opened and read 22 Turkish sites, and looked at 13 international knowledge centres for format and structure. Eight more Turkish sites would not open for us; we left them out of the findings. Three things stood out on the 22 that day.

Few dates

On the pages we read, only two of the 22 sites showed both a publication and an update date. A page explaining customs terms was dated 21 September 2016 and was still live on the day of the scan. Without a date, a reader cannot tell on their own whether a page is still right.

Few source links

None of the logistics firms or customs brokerages linked to a source. Some named an institution or a law but gave no link; even an article about the ICC did not link to the ICC's own site. Most of the sites that did link were official or semi-official sources. We put the source, its direct URL and our access date at the foot of every knowledge page.

No warning of age

None of the 22 sites said that its content might go out of date. Some pages explaining regulations or rules did not say which version they were written against. Our byline on every knowledge page names the basis, so you know which text we are speaking from.

A rule we do not bend

We do not publish figures we cannot verify. Freight rates, demurrage, delivery order fees and port tariffs change constantly and differ between carriers. You will not find prices on these pages. You will find how a charge is set, who sets it and where to verify it, and our calculators run on the numbers you enter, with no tariff hard-coded.
