What we organise
Departure İstanbul, destination Skopje, on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The only thing that changes is how much of the trailer your cargo needs.

The truck goes from the loading point straight to the consignee in North Macedonia, with no transshipment on the way.
Part load
Smaller consignments are grouped on the same departures and priced by loading metre (ldm) or by weight. How ldm and chargeable weight are calculated.
Clearance on the Turkish side
Our own customs broker prepares the export declaration, the EUR.1 and the transit declaration; the file is not handed to a third party.
Agent at destination
Our correspondent agent in Skopje receives the cargo on arrival. It is an agent we work with, not our own team; address below.

Rules
What applies on the road
North Macedonia is not in the EU, yet a truck from Türkiye can reach it only across EU territory. On the way, the same load meets a trade agreement, a transit procedure and the rules of the road.
Türkiye and North Macedonia have a free trade agreement, signed on 7 September 1999 and in force since 1 September 2000. North Macedonia has charged no customs duty on industrial products of Turkish origin since 1 January 2008. For agricultural products, each side grants reductions or exemptions only for listed products, some of them within tariff quotas.
The preference is claimed with proof of origin. Since 1 January 2026 the revised Pan-Euro-Mediterranean (PEM) rules of origin apply between the two countries; the proof is a EUR.1 movement certificate or an origin declaration. A.TR does not work here: it is the document of the Türkiye–EU customs union, and it shows free circulation, not origin. A.TR or EUR.1 explains the difference.
The two countries share no border; the road runs through Bulgaria or Greece. Türkiye has been a party to the Common Transit Convention since 1 December 2012 and North Macedonia since 1 July 2015. The load can therefore travel from the customs office of departure in Türkiye to the office of destination in North Macedonia under a single T1 declaration in NCTS, with duties and taxes suspended on the way. More: T1 transit document and NCTS.
Road permits
Road haulage across these borders runs on permits: bilateral permits agreed between two countries, or the ECMT multilateral permit. Türkiye's transport ministry lists Bulgaria, Greece and North Macedonia among the countries where ECMT permits can be used. Road transit permits and ECMT.
CMR consignment note
Türkiye, Bulgaria, Greece and North Macedonia are all parties to the CMR Convention; the carriage runs under a CMR consignment note. CMR reservations and liability.
Cargo securing
In Bulgaria and Greece the truck can be stopped for an EU roadside inspection, which may include cargo securing (Directive 2014/47, Art. 13). Road cargo securing.
Export documents
Which document is needed, and who issues it: export documents.

Frequently asked
Do you carry part loads to North Macedonia?
Yes. The Wednesday, Friday and Saturday departures from İstanbul to Skopje take full and part loads. A part load is priced by loading metre or by weight; the itemised quote states which basis applies.
A.TR or EUR.1 for North Macedonia?
EUR.1 or an origin declaration. Since 1 January 2026 the revised PEM rules apply between Türkiye and North Macedonia. A.TR is the document of the Türkiye–EU customs union and does not prove origin.
Is a T1 needed to cross Bulgaria or Greece?
The goods cross the customs territory of the EU, so they travel under a transit procedure. Because Türkiye and North Macedonia are both parties to the Common Transit Convention, one T1 opened in NCTS can cover the journey from departure in Türkiye to destination in North Macedonia. We prepare the transit declaration.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
We do not publish transit times or prices on this page: they depend on the cargo, the loading day and the border crossing. During working hours we reply with an itemised written quote the same day, otherwise the next business day.
Who receives the cargo in Skopje?
Our correspondent agent in Skopje, an agent we work with rather than our own team. The address is on this page and on the contact page; we handle all contact with the agent.
