Lane
What we do from İstanbul to Greece
The lane is run by a partner of ours; we organise the departure, the paperwork and the arrival, and you deal with us.
Departures every day
Daily departures from İstanbul to Thessaloniki and to Athens. Tell us your loading date and we plan which departure it joins.
Full truckload
The truck goes straight from the loading point to the consignee, with no transshipment, which keeps damage risk and transit time to a minimum.
Part load
Cargo that does not fill a truck joins the daily departures too. The price is built on loading metres (ldm) or kilograms; the maths is on the CBM, LDM and chargeable weight page.
The Turkish side is ours
Export declaration, HS classification, origin and movement certificates stay with our own customs broker; the file is never handed out. We also prepare the T1 transit documents on European lanes: T1 transit and NCTS.
Athens and Thessaloniki
We work with 3,000 m² of storage capacity across the two cities, with receiving at both ends of the lane. Detail in the warehousing section.
Arrival
Our agents in Thessaloniki and Athens
Our agents run the arrival end: agents we work with, not our own team. Contracts, invoicing and official correspondence run through the İstanbul head office. The same network reaches more than 30 European countries.
Thessaloniki
4th km Thessalonikis Kalochoriou, 54628.
Athens
112 Dimokratias Str. & 16 Andrianoupoleos Str., 18756 Keratsini.
In the Balkans we also organise departures to Skopje, on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday: road freight to North Macedonia. All agent addresses are on the contact page.
Rules
Five rules on the road
Greece is an EU member, so the truck enters the EU customs territory from Türkiye. What follows is what the official sources say; they are listed at the end of the page.
Entry summary declaration
By road, an ENS has been required since 1 April 2025; since 1 June 2026 every consignment entering the EU by any mode needs a valid ENS. By road the declaration is lodged electronically at least one hour before the truck reaches the point of entry, and each entry into the EU needs its own ENS. The carrier lodges it; if the requirements are not met, the goods can be stopped at the EU border. More: 2026 customs changes.
Customs union
The EU–Türkiye customs union covers industrial products, processed agricultural products included. Goods in free circulation use it with an A.TR movement certificate; agricultural products and coal and steel fall under separate agreements. Which document: A.TR or EUR.1.
Consignment note
Greece has been a party to the CMR Convention since 1977 and Türkiye since 1995. The rules on damage, reservations and compensation come from it: CMR reservations and liability.
Road permit
Permits for Turkish trucks to enter other countries are distributed under bilateral agreements and the multilateral ECMT system, to hauliers holding an operating authorisation. The permit belongs to the haulier, not the cargo owner: road permits and ECMT.
Roadside inspection
In the EU, a roadside inspection of a commercial vehicle may include its cargo securing. What is expected: road cargo securing.
Frequently asked
Which documents do I need to send goods by truck to Greece?
The commercial invoice and packing list describe the cargo. On the Turkish side our own customs broker lodges the export declaration. For industrial products covered by the customs union an A.TR movement certificate is issued; agricultural products are a different case. The consignment note is the CMR. The full list is on the export documents page.
Can I send a part load of a few pallets?
Yes. The daily departures to Thessaloniki and Athens take full and part loads. For a part load the price is built on loading metres (ldm) or kilograms; send us the pallet dimensions and weights.
Who clears customs, in Türkiye and in Greece?
On the Turkish side the export declaration, HS classification and movement certificate stay with our own customs broker, and we prepare the T1 transit documents. Our agents in Thessaloniki and Athens run the arrival end. The carrier lodges the ENS for entry into the EU.
How many days does İstanbul to Athens or Thessaloniki take?
We do not print days on this page; waiting at the border and at customs varies from one shipment to the next. Send us the loading date and the cargo and we will answer for that shipment.
Can the cargo wait on arrival?
We work with 3,000 m² of storage capacity in Athens and Thessaloniki combined, with receiving in both cities.
